Sorry for leaving this comment ...Dear Pastor Bob,

Sorry for leaving this comment in the wrong place -- I tried to email you but the email address didn't work.

I've been looking for some books to read, to begin to explore Christianity. I was baptized Catholic, but wasn't raised with a religion. At a few points over the years, I've dropped into churches. Lately (for a variety of reasons) I've been feeling a desire to explore Christian faith. I've been praying, and this seems to be making a difference, but not enough of a difference. So, this brought me to Amazon, looking for books.

I'd like to read some books by intelligent people who have had a thoughtful relationship with God.

Most of the people I know are well-educated skeptics or atheists, who don't think that one can be well-educated and also believe in God. I know a few people who believe in God, but are not particularly interested in thinking or reading about it, or talking about it with me. You seem like a well-read, intelligent man, who is also faithful. I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction.

Maybe you could make one of those Amazon top-ten lists that people make. Best books on Christianity for spiritual seekers, or something like that? And don't forget to put a link here on the blog!

While searching Amazon, I came across a best seller called The Reason for God, and a book of spiritual writings by Flannery O'Connor, Lauren Winner's book, Girl Meets God, and Mere Christianity by CS Lewis. I figured maybe those would be good places to start. If you think of other good recommendations for people who are just looking for an introduction to a Christian life from a thoughtful perspective, I'd love to hear them. I also have a little biography of Thomas Merton that I've never read. I might try that, too.

Meanwhile I'll continue perusing your reviews and your blog!

Have a good Sunday, and thanks for posting all the reviews :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
